We'd like to thank the scouts from Troop
144 from Springfield for their involvement at our first ever JOTA
event. They brought
their trailer and set up a dining fly, tables and chairs and also
assited our ham volunteers with setting up our HF wire antenna and
ground radials. Lots of contacts made all over the globe from
Austria to Japan and lots more. A few photos are
shared below. More to come as they are sent to us.

It all starts with an antenna. In this case a semi-vertical piece
of 10-12 guage
electrical wire about 25 feet up in a tree with several ground radials

Halfway up....that's teamwork....what the Scouts are all about

It looks like they have done this before!

Bill N4LB brought his Ten Tech HF Rig to use as a secondary station for
monitoring CW and other voice traffic

Bill set up his rig on the main operating table but eventually moved it
to another table for some separation and more operating room.

And then of course you have to have supervisors. Actually this 2m
/ 70cm J-pole was used as a receiving antenna for Bill's HF station.
L-R are Jake Barker, a former scout visiting from the Memphis area,
Tommy KD4TJO and Tommy's brother-in-law
Tharen Haley visiting from Bolivar, TN.

And you can't get enough supervisors. Rick W4AKT and Sandy WB4SRX
checking it out to make sure it's all ok.
(They might want to move away from that wire before the transmitting
begins)

Bill, N4LB (not in picture) set up this second station just for
listening to some other contacts being made and a little CW to
boot.
Bill also brought a great number of his QSL cards for the scouts to
see.
