Welcome to our little spot on the web for 2026.  We hope everyone has a great year! This year we celebrate our 15th Anniversary as a club. We hope that you find our web site informative and helpful.

Robertson County Amateur Radio Club was founded in June of 2011 by a small group of dedicated amateurs to provide an organization that amateur (ham) radio operators in and around Robertson County can gather to share ideas, mentor other hams to advance in the hobby and to assist non-hams interested in becoming an amateur radio operator. Even though the club is now 10+ years old, we are still working hard to make this a viable communications resource to the people of the surrounding area. Please bear with us while we continue to work through this process.

While we are based in Robertson County Tennessee, just North of Nashville, we support all counties in Northern Middle Tennessee and in South Central Kentucky and invite any licensed amateur radio operator in these areas to join our group and help us to grow.

Club meetings are held at 7:00pm on the first Thursday night of each month at the First Free Will Baptist Church, 811 16th Ave. East in Springfield, TN. Enter the building from the back door, lower level. The meetings are open to all and everyone interested in amateur radio is welcome to attend. You can find an aerial map of the location and current meeting/testing dates further down this page. Clicking on the map will take you to Google maps where you can calculate directions from your location.

**Announcements**

Since the first Thursday fell on New Years Day, the January 2026 meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, January 8th at the same place and time.

Our weekly net is on Tuesday nights, immediatly following the Robertson County / Cheatham County
ARES net which meets at 7pm on the 147.345 N4RCA repeater in Cross Plains. The ARES net is usually concluded by about 7:20pm.

RCARC is now an approved 501(c)3 tax exempt public charity by the IRS. Any donations to the club are tax exempt on your Federal Income Tax.

We would like to thank the Robertson County Senior Center for their hospitality in providing us a meeting and testing location as the club was getting started and later NorthCrest Hospital up until hey had to limit access due to Covid-19 restrictions.

RCARC is part of the Nashville Area Ham Radio Activities Group. The calendar link below reflects the scheduled events of the  Robertson County Amateur Radio Club along with the Sumner County Amateur Radio Association and the Nashville Amateur Radio Club.

Right click this link and choose "open in new tab" to go to the calender.

See below for map of the church location where meetings and VE Testing sessions are currently held.
Click on the map to go to Google Maps to calculate directions if needed.

(clicking the map will take you away from our site unless you right click and open in another tab or window)

Our meetings are open to all...hams, non-hams, members and non-members. Come visit with us Thursday night, December 4th at 7pm.

Each meeting includes a program geared around amateur radio or one of the many aspects of the hobby.
Whatever it is.... it will, as always, be interesting to the amateur operators in attendance.

Click here to see our 2025 flyer showing other aspects
of amateur radio that you might find fun.

Please note that RCARC no longer provides VE testing.  You can click this link to go to the ARRL web page to search for in person or online testing locations

Getting your license

We previously offered free classes for those that wished to obtain their ham radio license or for currently licensed hams that are looking to upgrade.  We had a successful Technician class in 2017 but it seems that most people, in this busy time and especially after covid, people prefer to self study now. Getting your amateur license does not require a training class but for some, it helps understand the information that you need to know to not only pass the tests, but to be a successful amateur radio operator. Many people have tested for their license with only self study of the manual and sometimes coupled with one of the several websites that offer online practice test sessions. You can find some of these practice test websites in our Amateur Links Page. There is a link for that page in our "Links of Interest" section above.

RCARC, for many years, had our own VE team to administer license exams.
Due to changes in FCC rules, more people are testing online now, therefore RCARC has decided to stop providing local VE test sessions as of January 2026. You can find other in-person or online testing via the ARRL website.  Click here to go direct to their testing page to find an in-person or online testing session that will work for you.
